Root canal treatment

Root canal treatment involves removing all the dental pulp (the sensitive portion of the tooth, commonly known as the nerve) present inside the tooth. During root canal therapy, the endodontist disinfects the entire root canal system, treating all canals down to the root tip. It is imperative to locate and treat all canals present to minimize future complications. Afterwards, obturating material is placed in the canals to prevent recontamination.

Aftercare

Once endodontic treatment has been completed, the endodontist will place a temporary restoration on the tooth to allow your dentist access to the pulp chamber. Since this restoration is temporary, it’s imperative that you see your dentist again for replacement within a maximum of 3 months.
